Both halves run in the tab — yours and your audience’s
Browser-based here means both halves, not just the editor. You author the deck in a tab, you present from the same page, and your audience joins in their own browser with no account and no install. There is no plugin, no extension, no desktop companion app and no meeting client to download — on either side.
The practical consequence is that it runs where installed software cannot: a locked-down work laptop, a borrowed machine, a phone — and there is nothing for IT to approve first. One thing to correct straight away, because it is the usual assumption: browser-based does not mean a URL you pass around. A published deck gets its own public route, plus an embed snippet for your own site. The only way someone else reaches the deck is a live join, by code or QR, while you are running the session.

The audience side is a browser too, and that changes what they see
Because each attendee’s browser renders the deck rather than receiving a video of your monitor, the motion arrives crisp at their own screen’s resolution, and your annotations land at the correct position whatever size their display is. Your play, pause, forward and back are synced to every screen, with the click-advance holds preserved, so the room moves in step with you.
Around the deck, all in the same tab and none of it needing an install: public chat and private one-to-one threads, a raise-hand queue, presenter and audience mic and camera, and one-click captions with a saved transcript. Note one boundary — the deck plays by default rather than a picture of your screen; to demonstrate another application you switch screen sharing on deliberately, then off again.
What a browser-only tool cannot give you here
The honest limits, before anyone hits them. There is no offline presenting, because there is no file to present from. There is no PPTX or Canva import and no export of any kind. A published deck has its own URL and an embed snippet. Charts and speaker notes both exist. Templates and tables do not. And there is no desktop app for Windows, Mac or Linux — searching for one will not turn up a download.
If the requirement is a deck that works on a plane, or one you hand to a colleague to present without you, this is the wrong shape of product, and it is better to know it now than after you have built in it.

What is browser based software?
Software that runs inside a web browser rather than being installed on your machine, with the work stored in the cloud instead of in local files. Here it applies to both sides: you author in a tab and your audience watches in a tab. Nothing is downloaded, and there is no desktop version to look for.
What is the difference between web based and browser based?
In practice they are used interchangeably, and both describe this product accurately. The distinction people usually care about is whether anything has to be installed or whether a file lives on disk — the answer here is no on both counts, and there is no local project file at all.
Can I send someone a link to the deck instead of presenting it?
No, and this is the one place people misread browser-based. A published deck has its own URL and an embed code — but no file ever comes out. The deck lives inside the product and a second person sees it by joining a live session you are running — if passing a URL around is the requirement, this will not do it.
Is there a browser based PowerPoint I can open my files in?
Halfway. There is PPTX import but no PPTX export, so an existing PowerPoint file can be opened and edited here as layers — minus its animations, tables and charts — but never produced as one. There are no templates to start from, which is still a cost if you have a library to bring across.
Does it work offline?
No. Editing saves to your account continuously and presenting means running a live room, so both need a connection. There is no offline copy, no cached file and nothing you could open on a plane — the deck exists only inside the product.
Does my audience need to install anything?
Nothing at all. They open a link, scan a QR or type an eight-character code, enter a display name and they are in — no account, no app, no browser extension. It works on whatever device they already have, including a phone.
